Help! Or Frequently Asked Questions:

pfa blog fairyHello, I’m the PFA Blog Fairy.  When Mrs Blakeman lets me out of the office computer I like to float around the blogosphere.  All this blogging business can be a bit confusing at first but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of it.  Remember the only silly question is the one you were too afraid to ask!  Let me help.

What is a blog?

Blog is short for Web Log.  It’s an online interactive diary.  These days no self-respecting celebrity, politician or even archbishop is without a blog.  Quite often, their cat or dog will have one too!  Each entry is known as a post.

What is a blog for?

People use blogs for publicity purposes, to advertise and promote products, as a means of personal expression or, as in our case, to build an online community.

How do I find the post I’m looking for?

There are lots of different ways to navigate around the site.  If you just want to find the most recent post click on the All Posts link in the side bar and posts will be displayed in order with most recent first.  You could choose to search in the categories such as Competitions or PFA updates, again the most recent entries in the category will be displayed first.  If you’re looking for something very specific, such as your child’s work, try typing their name into the search box. Don’t forget that you can use your browser’s forward/back arrows and if you really get lost you can always go to the home page and start again!

What is a link?

When you click on a link with your mouse it will take you to another part of the web.  Links can be in the form of text, images or graphics.  Some will be internal and take you to another part of the site you are on.  Other links will take you to completely different sites.  Look at our Blogroll, these links take you to other sites.  The text links on this site are highlighted in red.

I can only view part of the post, where’s the rest?

The web is a very crowded place these days, we’re saving space. It also forces us to make sure the first few lines we write are interesting! To view the rest of the post either click on the title or the ‘more’ link.

How do I leave a comment?

Simply fill in the form at the bottom of the post or page and then write your stuff and hit the submit button.  Your comment should appear within the next 24 hours, it depends on how busy I am!

Do I have to leave my real name, will anyone be able to recognise who I am?

You must fill in a name, but you can use any name you like or just write ‘parent’ or (even better!) ‘supportive parent’. Nobody viewing the site necessarily has to know who you are.  You have to fill in your e-mail address, this will be visible to The PFA Blog Fairy but no one else can see it, I promise!  Your e-mail address will not be used for any other purpose nor  will it be passed on to anybody else.  If you have a website why not put it in? If not just leave it blank.
